COPILOT took home the Best Original Song at the 5th Annual AMP Awards for Music and Sound last night in New York. The winning entry was the Fallout 4 “Nuka World Official Trailer,” created by Bethesda Game Studios. It features a fun, campy and period-accurate jingle for a fictional theme park called “Nuka World.” This marks the fifth straight year COPILOT has won at the AMP awards, a show that is decided upon by fellow composers and producers. Shootonline has the full list of winners.

Two years after releasing “E.p. #1” under the name HYBIRD (see our earlier story), our very own Ravi Krishnaswami has just put out his first full length record, Gemini, on Off Atlas Records, who describe the album as “A seamless blend of modern indie-pop, 80s new wave, and searching folk, crafted with a composer’s precision, while retaining the ‘fluidity of line’ found in stream-of-consciousness art music.”

COPILOT was excited to be part of some groundbreaking work from McCann for International Women’s Day. Read Adweek’s full piece here.
Pedestrians in lower Manhattan had a new piece of branded art to ponder on Tuesday morning, as McCann New York and client State Street Global Advisors conspired in the middle of the night to drop a statue in Bowling Green Park of a girl facing off against the famous Wall Street Charging Bull.
The music business and jingle world have evolved tremendously over the last decade. Major disruptions like the democratization of studio technology and the decline in CD sales have clarified the role of the “jingle composer.” So says partner/CD Ravi Krishnaswami in an engaging four-part blog series called Stuff I’ve Learned Writing Music For Advertising at NewMusicBox, a publication of NewMusicUSA, a highly respected organization promoting new music.

It’s a COPILOT tradition to end the year by sending you a lovingly curated mixtape. We’re still just two music nerds eagerly sharing opinions and new discoveries, and we always love hearing from you. Commenting is enabled on this post!
The fall release of Dishonored 2 was a big event for us at COPILOT. First of all, the game was recently named Game Of The Year by PC Gamer Magazine. It’s also up for GOTY at IGN. Why are we so excited?
Deep inside Karnaca, players have discovered a pair of street musicians. Finding these songs is a big achievement in the game, and we were really excited to start seeing game capture videos pop up on Youtube (we’ve collected them here). After all, we wrote and recorded these songs, which mine the culture and history of the fictional island of Serkonos. We really loved working on these and have been excited to see them embraced by the gaming community. Even cooler, “Sands of Serkonos” actually appears as the end credits songs:

In honor of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, COPILOT continued its partnership with Anomaly to create this series of ridiculous Olympic related spots. Bringing life to Cherry, Blue Razz, Watermelon, Apple and Grape Gang required some serious imagination and some not-at-all-serious sound design.

Picking up a trophy for the fourth consecutive year, COPILOT’s work for Jell-O won the AMP (Association of Music Producers) Award for Best Execution of a Sonic ID or Logo. What makes the AMP Awards special is that it is entirely created by and created for the musicians working in this specialized field. We’re humbled to get recognition from our colleagues and excited to share this win with Leo Burnett and Jell-O, who placed their iconic melody in our hands.

“I absolutely love Fleetwood Mac, and I really wanted to tease out the darkness of that song while bringing it into the Dishonored unverse,” COPILOT Creative Director Ravi Krishnaswami said after the trailer debuted at the E3 Gaming Expo in Los Angeles. As anticipation grows for the fall release of Dishonored 2, gamers have continued to call for the full song to be released.
We’re thrilled to be part of World Wildlife Fund’s amazing “Together” app, which was just refreshed as part of Apple’s “Apps for Earth” initiative. Partner/CD Ravi Krishnaswami, a/k/a Hybird composed an original song and underscore for the app, its trailer, and its “shareable video,” which were designed by AKQA (DC). The song “Together” is part of a three song debut E.P. available to stream on Spotify and SoundCloud, and to purchase at iTunes and Amazon. “Underneath the Wild Blue Light” appears in WWF’s recent “Explore” eBook. Our music was provided pro-bono for WWF and a portion of digital sales will be donated back to the organization. Click below to learn more and to stream the songs now!
